Mitel

Mitel wanted a simplified way to organize their content, modernize their web presence, and increase conversion.

Role: Design Lead, UX, Art Direction
Tools: Sketch, Invision, Adobe Photoshop
Year: 2018

Context

Founded in 1973, Mitel provides a wide range of business phone systems and unified communications as a service to businesses of all sizes. The company has more than 70 million users of its services in nearly 100 countries. Mitel is based in Ontario, Canada.

Project Goals:

  1. Design a bold, modern web experience that is in line with the brand and encourages action.

  2. Build a flexible design system and set of templates that would work across page types.

Project Notes:

One of the first activities we engaged in was a workshop to refine their existing brand guidelines to allow for the modern look they were desiring. With no photo direction formally defined, I took this opportunity to provide them with one that was confident, shadow heavy, and told a great story.

Our partnership with Mitel meant we had an open dialogue that, when conducting interviews and workshops, we were given the truth. Mitel went through the full UX process of define, research, analyze, design, and validate to arrive at an experience that blurred the line between form and function.

Result:

The website now balances their organizational needs with a sophisticated, intuitive interface that is a better reflection of the power Mitel commands. A post-launch check in reported that their new site was 20% faster, with longer page visit times, and more cross-page discovery. Users were spending more time on the site learning and exploring which, in turn, resulted in more conversions.
